Remember when “us” was all we knew?
When life was only about “me” and “you”.
Remember the walks and the talks in the car?
And the late night chats under “our star”?

With the manger scene
Glowing in the midnight sky!
We could barely walk
And we thought we could fly!

Our love was strong!
We believed it! We knew!
Then the battles of life began to break through!
They beat on our lives like a great tidal wave!
They caused us to pray, to cry, even rave!

We asked, “Oh God! Help us to see!”
He replied, “My children, don’t you know
You need Me?”
He spoke to us there
By the lane,
By the sea,
From the sin of this world
His Hand set us free!

From drinking and daring,
From pent up emotion
He brought us His peace
Like a calm in the ocean!

He healed us of memories
Deep, full of pain,
And brought us from darkness
To His gentle rain.

He caused us to see with eyes brand new!
And gave us a reason to live, it is true!
Now life is different!
In God’s Light we see!
I’m so glad He left space
For you and for me!
