Five thousand men and maybe more
Lined up at the kitchen door
Hands held out, eyes aglow
Before a child they didn’t know
The boy stood there, sack in hand
Saying, “Jesus, help me understand!
I’m glad to share my lunch with you!”
But, he thought to himself,
“We’re only two!”
“Seven loaves and five small fish!
I don’t even have a dish!
But Jesus knelt and said a prayer
Over the child who was standing there
Light was shining from His Face
As the Father brought His Amazing Grace!
The scent of fresh bread filled the air!
And baskets of fish were everywhere!
Tears ran from the little boy’s eyes
As he heard the thousands of tiny cries!
And he walked away from his lunch that day
Knowing more than words could say.
He’d watched his mother bake that bread
That caused the thousands to be fed
How could he make her understand
What was done by this “Jesus man?”
As he sat there on that hallowed ground
Passing the baskets of fish around
Someone said, “I know you care..”
Miracles happen when you share.”
