A cry went up to Heaven
From the heavy heart of men
Who had filled themselves with lies
And boasted in their sin

A shame had settled on them
Dust had claimed their day
And Fortune ducked his head
As he passed by their way

”Fools we are!” they screamed at God!
“We’re simple! Wretched! Blind!”
God heard their cries and gave to them
His
Divine Valentine.

With His Gift He said, “I love you”
“I’ll forgive you of your sin”
Then He handed them a book and said,
“Don’t let the devil in.”

The men were crying, broken,
Desperate for Love!
They opened up the book
That God gave them from above.

They read each page and wept
They memorized each verse
They prayed to God in Heaven
That they would not get worse.

They prayed to be forgiven
To be delivered from their sin
They followed directions in the book
Then they let Jesus in.

He took away the ashes
Gave them grace and love so fine
He healed their shattered hearts by saying,
“Here’s My Heart. Take Mine!”

And so the men were saved and healed
By a God whose light did shine!
Who gave to them His Holy Word,
His Divine Valentine.
